Higher Level Teaching Assistant – SEN Provision

About the role

We are looking for a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our specialist SEN provision in Cheltenham. You will work with Key Stage 3 and 4 students who are at risk of exclusion, helping them re‑engage with education and make positive academic and personal progress.

Key responsibilities

• Support the delivery of learning for KS3 and KS4 students.
• Lead small‑group interventions and structured learning activities.
• Assist in planning and adapting resources to meet individual needs.
• Support behaviour management in line with school policies.
• Build strong, supportive relationships with students at risk of exclusion.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals.
• Contribute to a safe, consistent and engaging learning environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or strong teaching assistant.
• Resilient, proactive and passionate about supporting young people in an alternative provision setting.
• Confident in managing behaviour and delivering targeted support.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and external agencies.
