Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Watford – Sep 2026

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our inclusive primary school in Watford from September 2026. This full‑time, term‑time position offers the chance to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 and to lead whole‑class teaching when required.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality learning experiences across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
• Provide PPA cover and whole‑class teaching in the teacher’s absence.
• Support pupils through targeted interventions and small‑group work.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND staff and senior leaders to raise achievement.
• Promote positive behaviour, inclusion and high expectations.
• Contribute to assessment, monitoring and pupil progress.
• Participate in school events and wider community activities.

Required profile

• Holds HLTA status or an equivalent Level 4 qualification.
• Substantial experience in a primary school setting.
• Excellent classroom practice and behaviour management skills.
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
• Commitment to inclusion and supporting diverse learning needs.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and the community.
• Organised, flexible and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
