Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Year 5 & Maths Interventions

About the role

A thriving primary school in Haringey is looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to start in September 2026. The role blends classroom teaching with targeted maths interventions, supporting Year 5 pupils to raise attainment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a Year 5 class when required.
• Deliver focused maths intervention sessions.
• Lead small‑group learning activities.
• Provide additional academic support to pupils who need it.
• Collaborate closely with Year 5 teachers and senior leaders.
• Monitor progress and help close learning gaps.

Required profile

• Confident, responsible and able to deliver lessons independently.
• Passionate about helping pupils achieve their potential.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, HLTA, Cover Supervisor, or an aspiring teacher.
• Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the update service.
