Highway Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Highway Engineer will support the planning, design, coordination and delivery of capital‑funded highway infrastructure projects. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will manage external partners and ensure projects progress through the full lifecycle while meeting funding, governance and corporate standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of design and construction documentation for highway schemes.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to keep projects on schedule.
• Monitor project budgets, timelines and quality standards.
• Support the preparation of reports and presentations for senior management and funding bodies.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations throughout the project.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., BEng/MEng in Civil or Highway Engineering).
• Experience working on road or infrastructure projects, preferably within a public‑sector or capital‑funded environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
