Highways Operative

About the role

Join a close‑knit team of 2‑3 operatives based in Banwell, delivering essential road maintenance and winter standby services across the South West. The role offers a varied day‑to‑day routine, from routine repairs to seasonal winter works, with strong earning potential through overtime and standby duties.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out kerbing, hot and cold lay patching, fencing and signage installation.
• Perform daily risk assessments and pre‑site checks to ensure site and equipment safety.
• Travel across the county to complete tarmac work, white‑line marking and gully repairs.
• Operate modern plant and equipment on flexible day, night and winter standby rotas.

Required profile

• Valid CSCS card.
• Current UK driving licence with no more than six penalty points.
• Proven experience in highways or manual‑labour roles.
• Comfortable using a tablet for daily task recording.
• Flexible attitude towards shift work and willingness to learn.
