Highways Operative/Driver – Blyth

About the role

You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality highways maintenance works for Northumberland County Council in Blyth. The role involves both reactive repairs and planned construction activities on live highway networks.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out minor reactive repairs such as pothole fixing and lift‑and‑relay paving.
• Participate in planned construction teams for larger works including paving, kerbing, drainage, bricklaying and resurfacing.
• Work safely within a live highway environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.

Required profile

• Knowledge and experience of civil groundworks, preferably within a live highway setting.
• Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Highways, or working towards a relevant trade qualification.
• Desirable experience of larger construction works such as paving, kerbing, drainage, bricklaying and resurfacing.
