Hire Desk Controller – Plant Hire Operations

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Hire Desk Controller to manage plant‑hire bookings, off‑hires and invoicing for our busy operations in Weston‑super‑Mare. The successful candidate will act as the central point of contact for customers and internal teams, ensuring smooth contract execution and accurate records.

Key responsibilities

• Manage hire contracts from initiation through completion.
• Coordinate with customers, transport, sales and workshop teams.
• Handle inbound calls and emails across multiple mailboxes.
• Maintain up‑to‑date equipment availability and accurate records.
• Build and nurture relationships with key customers.
• Verify that all paperwork and billing are correct.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Confident telephone manner and clear written communication.
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Proficiency with Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
• Previous experience in plant‑hire or on a hire desk is essential.
