About the role
We are looking for an experienced Hire Manager to lead the tool and plant hire operation for a leading builders merchant in Kendal. The role combines sales ambition with deep knowledge of the building supplies sector, offering the chance to shape a high‑potential branch.
Key responsibilities
- Drive proactive sales of tool and plant hire equipment.
- Manage day‑to‑day hire operations and customer service standards.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the hire portfolio.
- Lead, motivate and develop the hire team.
- Monitor performance against targets and report to senior management.
Required profile
- Proven experience in tool/plant hire or hire controller/manager roles.
- Strong background in the building supplies or construction sector.
- Customer‑focused with excellent communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, ambitious and able to work independently.
