History Teacher

About the role
As a History Teacher, you will deliver high-quality lessons that develop students' understanding of key historical events, themes, and interpretations. You will encourage critical thinking, analysis of evidence, and a deeper appreciation of how the past shapes the present.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging History lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Teach a range of topics such as medieval history, modern world history, and British history.
- Support GCSE and A-Level History where applicable.
- Develop students' essay writing, source analysis, and evaluation skills.
- Assess, track, and report on student progress.
- Contribute to curriculum development within the Humanities department.
- Lead or support enrichment activities such as history clubs, trips, or museum visits.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Degree in History or a related Humanities subject.
- Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for historical study.
- Ability to make history engaging, relevant, and accessible.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
- Willingness to contribute to wider school life and enrichment.
