HIU Service Engineer – Heat Network Maintenance

About the role
Hemiko is seeking a dedicated HIU Service Engineer to join its Operations & Maintenance Residential Team. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will deliver operation and maintenance services across a growing fleet of low‑carbon heat networks, focusing on the servicing and repair of Heat Interface Units (HIUs) from multiple manufacturers.
Key responsibilities
- Work under the direct supervision of the Technical Manager while regularly operating autonomously.
- Perform basic part replacement, attend breakdowns, and complete planned preventative maintenance in line with company schedules.
- Service, fault‑find and repair HIUs, and respond to reactive call‑outs to restore heat.
- Manage site‑based project work, develop scopes for plant remediation, and ensure safe isolation of equipment before work.
- Maintain clear, up‑to‑date online work orders and system records; assist with monthly mechanical PPM checks in plant rooms.
Required profile
- Organised, self‑motivated professional with a positive outlook, able to work in a fast‑growing, small‑team environment.
- Strong communicator comfortable interacting with internal teams, external clients and site‑based personnel.
- Willingness to take ownership of tasks and deliver high‑quality work on time.
Required skills
- Proven experience as a HIU service engineer, servicing units from various manufacturers.
- Basic electrical competency and ability to safely isolate mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of heat network energy centres, plant rooms and district heating concepts (preferred).
- Full UK driving licence (valid for at least 12 months).
- NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing/Domestic Gas and Part G are advantageous.
