About the role
The Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEN will support pupils with special educational needs, including SEND, SEMH and ASD, across schools in Greater Manchester. This full‑time, term‑time position is ideal for a compassionate graduate or experienced educator who wants to make a real difference.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to SEN pupils.
- Collaborate closely with parents, teachers and senior leaders to tailor learning plans.
- Track and monitor attendance, progress data and behavioural records.
- Model positive behaviour and act as a role‑model for students.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
Required profile
- Degree 2:1 or above (psychology preferred but any subject acceptable).
- Confident, empathetic and resilient.
- Firm but fair approach with pupils.
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Previous experience working with SEN children is essential.
