Home Ownership Officer

About the role

The Home Ownership Officer will deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused service for shared ownership and leasehold residents. You will manage a portfolio of homes, oversee Right to Buy/Right to Acquire processes, and ensure accurate rent and service‑charge administration.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of shared ownership and leasehold properties, acting as the main point of contact for residents.
• Handle service‑charge disputes, lease breaches, anti‑social behaviour issues and general enquiries.
• Conduct routine site visits, work with the Estates Services team to assess and improve communal areas.
• Process Right to Buy, Voluntary Right to Buy and Right to Acquire applications from enquiry to completion.
• Administer shared‑ownership resales and staircasing transactions, liaising with legal representatives.
• Collaborate with Finance to calculate, bill and reconcile service charges; issue annual estimates and statements.
• Support Section 20 consultations and ensure compliance with leasehold legislation.
• Monitor rent and service‑charge accounts, taking action in line with income‑recovery policies.
• Liaise with Housing Benefit, DWP and partner agencies to resolve claims and maximise resident income.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in social housing, specifically home ownership, Right to Buy/Right to Acquire and shared ownership.
• Proven ability to work in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of leasehold legislation, welfare benefits and income‑maximisation.
