Homeless Assessment Officer

About the role

The Homeless Assessment Officer works within a dedicated homeless service, providing thorough assessments and guiding individuals toward suitable housing pathways. This role supports vulnerable customers, including those with mental health issues, prison leavers, and recent hospital discharges.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive homelessness assessments in line with current legislation.
• Develop and implement personalised housing plans for each customer.
• Collaborate with external agencies, housing providers, and support services to secure appropriate accommodation.
• Maintain accurate case records and monitor progress toward housing outcomes.
• Identify and intervene early to prevent homelessness where possible.

Required profile

• Proven experience working in homelessness or with vulnerable populations.
• Familiarity with relevant homelessness legislation and housing pathways.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
