Homelessness Caseworker – £32 per hour

About the role

The Homelessness Caseworker will join the Housing Needs and Homelessness Service to deliver high‑quality prevention, relief and housing advice. Working from the Civic Centre in Uxbridge, you will manage a varied caseload and help residents secure sustainable housing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive housing advice and homelessness prevention services in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Manage cases from initial enquiry through to closure, ensuring statutory compliance.
• Conduct statutory homelessness assessments and determine council duties.
• Develop and review Personalised Housing Plans, agreeing reasonable steps with applicants.
• Negotiate, mediate and intervene early to prevent homelessness.
• Support applicants in accessing social housing, private rented sector, low‑cost home ownership and supported accommodation.
• Advise on tenancy rights, welfare benefits and Discretionary Housing Payments.
• Maintain accurate case records in the council’s case management system and ensure GDPR compliance.
• Prepare statutory decision letters, reports and legal documentation within required timescales.

Required profile

• Experience delivering homelessness prevention, relief or main housing duty casework.
• Knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and related council policies.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work collaboratively with landlords, RSLs and partner agencies.
• Strong written communication skills for statutory letters and reports.

Required skills

• Proficiency with case management software used by the council.
