About the role

Join Rochdale Borough Council as a Homelessness Prevention Officer and play a crucial role in changing lives across Rochdale. This full‑time, temporary position offers the chance to make a significant impact by preventing homelessness and helping residents secure safe, sustainable housing.

Key responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload and conduct thorough homelessness assessments.
• Develop personalised housing plans tailored to individual needs.
• Collaborate with internal services and external partners to prevent homelessness and secure suitable accommodation.
• Address a diverse range of situations involving young people, families, survivors of domestic abuse, people leaving institutions, and individuals with complex support needs.
• Provide expert advice and support to residents facing housing crises, guiding them towards positive outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in homelessness prevention and housing casework.
• In‑depth knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Strong assessment, decision‑making and case‑management skills.
• Customer‑focused, solution‑driven approach with the ability to handle complex cases.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills for working with customers and partner agencies.

Required skills
