Hospital Engineer

About the role

Join Ramsay Health Care UK as a Hospital Engineer at Springfield Hospital in Chelmsford. You will support the maintenance team and external contractors, ensuring a safe and high‑quality environment for patients and staff. The role combines hands‑on technical work with coordination of service engineers across two hospital sites.

Key responsibilities

• Support the maintenance team and external contractors at Springfield Hospital.
• Participate in an on‑call rota covering Oaks Hospital in Colchester (one week in six) and attend as required.
• Ensure the hospital environment meets health, safety and quality standards.
• Coordinate service engineers and manage contractor activities.

Required profile

• Organised approach with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Experience in line‑managing within a maintenance environment, preferably post‑apprenticeship.
• Proven ability to manage and co‑ordinate contractors and service engineers.
• Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds Part 1/2 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Fire safety or fire risk assessment training is desirable.
• Understanding of quality management, continuous improvement and health‑and‑safety legislation.
• Knowledge of legionella prevention in hospital settings.
