About the role

Join Hostelling Scotland as a Hostel Assistant at the Edinburgh Youth Hostel, providing a welcoming base for guests exploring Scotland. This part‑time, fixed‑term role involves a mix of reception, housekeeping, and basic catering duties across 15 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver full reception service, including check‑in and check‑out.
• Handle guest enquiries and provide information about the hostel and local area.
• Perform cleaning, housekeeping, and room turnover tasks.
• Carry out basic catering duties as needed.
• Adapt to changing workloads during busy periods.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude.
• Ability to respect and support colleagues, including those who may live on‑site.
• Willingness to provide a satisfactory reference and a recent Basic Disclosure clearance.
• Proof of right to work in the UK.
