Hostel Service Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Hostel Service Manager to lead high‑quality supported housing services for vulnerable adults in Luton. The role involves overseeing accommodation‑based services, ensuring safe, person‑centred support and driving positive outcomes for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage supported housing and hostel services, ensuring high‑quality resident support.
• Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring and development to Team Leaders, Coordinators and Support Coaches.
• Promote psychologically informed and trauma‑informed approaches throughout service delivery.
• Monitor performance indicators such as occupancy, voids, rent collection, arrears, safeguarding and customer outcomes, and implement service improvements.
• Maintain effective safeguarding practices and manage risk.
• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, commissioners, support agencies and community partners.
• Take responsibility for service budgets, income management and financial performance.
• Oversee audits, compliance activities and quality assurance processes, producing performance reports for senior leadership.
• Support identification of funding opportunities, grants and tender submissions.

Required profile

• Significant management experience within supported housing, homelessness, social care or a similar environment.
• Proven track record of leading and developing successful teams.
• Experience supporting vulnerable adults and promoting independence and wellbeing.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong understanding of homelessness, safeguarding and social challenges affecting vulnerable people.
• Ability to use data and performance information to drive service improvement.
• Strong organisational, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.

• Salary up to £42,500 per annum.
• Essential car user allowance plus mileage reimbursement.
• 37‑hour week, Monday‑Friday with participation in an on‑call rota.
