Housing Income and Corporate Debt Officer

About the role

The Housing Income and Corporate Debt Officer will support a local authority in Folkestone by managing Business Rates accounts, maximising council revenue and delivering a customer‑focused service. This contract position offers the chance to work closely with internal teams and external agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Business Rates accounts, including billing, reliefs, exemptions, refunds and account amendments.
• Handle customer enquiries and provide accurate advice in line with legislation and council procedures.
• Maintain property and account records, liaising with the Valuation Office Agency and other external bodies.
• Support collection and recovery of Business Rates income through case management and debt recovery processes.

Required profile

• Recent experience in Business Rates, revenues or a similar administrative/customer service role.
• Good working knowledge of Business Rates legislation and administration.
• Strong organisational, communication and attention‑to‑detail skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using revenue management systems such as NEC or NDR.

• Hourly rate of £18 (negotiable for exceptional candidates).
• Contract length of 3‑6 months minimum, full‑time (37 hours per week, Monday‑Friday).
