Housing Litigation Solicitor – North East England

About the role

Our client, a top‑tier law firm recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers, is seeking a dedicated Housing Litigation Solicitor to join their thriving Housing department in Quayside, North East England. This permanent, full‑time role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of housing matters for both landlords and tenants.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload covering homelessness applications, disrepair claims, eviction and possession proceedings, and property ownership disputes.
• Provide advice and advocacy in court, including unlawful eviction cases and judicial review applications.
• Prepare and attend client meetings, take instructions, and draft legal documents.
• Maintain accurate time‑recording and ensure compliance with file‑management procedures.
• Support the Department Director and, when appropriate, offer technical guidance to junior team members.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with a clean, valid practising certificate at the time of application.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in housing law.
• Proven ability to work to key performance indicators and manage caseload complexity.
• Strong client‑care orientation with the capacity to handle vulnerable clients.
• Team‑player who adapts well to new challenges and can supervise junior staff.
