Housing Management Officer – Temporary Accommodation

About the role

We are seeking a Housing Management Officer to join a busy Temporary Accommodation Service within a London local authority. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of temporary accommodation properties, supporting vulnerable residents, and ensuring high‑quality tenancy management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of temporary accommodation properties, conducting inspections, audits and reviews.
• Carry out tenant sign‑ups, viewings, terminations and post‑void inspections.
• Support residents with tenancy sustainment, providing advice, guidance and sign‑posting.
• Investigate tenancy breaches and take appropriate enforcement action.
• Coordinate with internal departments, landlords, contractors, social‑care teams and partner agencies.
• Monitor repairs, ensure contractors deliver services efficiently, and report issues.
• Prepare legal documentation, witness statements and evidence for court proceedings when required.
• Handle complaints and enquiries from residents, councillors and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records in housing management systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in housing management, tenancy management or temporary accommodation services.
• Knowledge of homelessness, temporary accommodation and local authority housing challenges.
• Understanding of lettings, property management, health and safety and landlord responsibilities.
• Experience handling tenancy breaches and enforcement cases.
