Housing Officer

About the role

The Housing Officer will manage a portfolio of social housing properties and tenancies across Hertfordshire and West Essex. Working from Welwyn Garden City, you will ensure properties are safe, well‑maintained and that tenancies run smoothly, balancing office and home‑based work.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a patch of general‑needs, older‑people and affordable housing properties.
• Handle void management and allocate vacant properties in collaboration with Property Services and Lettings.
• Address anti‑social behaviour cases, complaints and tenant expectations regarding repairs.
• Escalate maintenance issues affecting tenant welfare through appropriate channels.
• Ensure compliance with fire safety, water hygiene, gas safety and data protection regulations.
• Provide tenancy advice to promote sustainable tenancies.
• Work with external agencies on domestic abuse, safeguarding and other welfare issues.
• Complete tenancy management processes such as conversions and permissions.

Required profile

• Experience in property or tenancy management.
• Proven ability to deliver high‑quality customer service.
• Capability to manage anti‑social behaviour and compliance matters.
• Strong communication and liaison skills with internal teams and external agencies.
• Full‑time availability (37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday).

• Salary range £35,947 – £37,839 per year plus a £600 car allowance.
