Housing Officer

About the role

We are seeking an office‑based Housing Officer to join a Housing Association in North London on a three‑month temporary contract. The role focuses on delivering empathetic, personalised housing management services to residents and supporting tenancy sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide an excellent, empathetic housing management service through regular communication and meetings with residents.
• Resolve resident‑raised issues promptly, working both independently and with the customer service centre and Asset team.
• Support tenants in their communities, ensuring they receive the right assistance to maintain tenancies.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and collaborate with external statutory authorities to keep residents safe.
• Manage tenancies effectively, address unacceptable behaviour constructively, and support residents to sustain their homes.
• Prepare void properties to the required standard, issue work orders, and maintain a clear audit trail.
• Identify support needs at tenancy start and coordinate with appropriate partners.
• Handle landlord repair requests via Workwise, authorise work orders within budget, and work with Asset Management on complex repairs.
• Ensure rent and service charge collection, debt management, and transparent accounting through weekly Workwise actions.
• Visit residents at home to assess needs, arrange necessary repairs, and record outcomes.

Required profile

• Recent experience as a Housing Officer or in a similar housing role.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Immediate availability or ability to start on short notice.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Workwise system.
• Budget authorisation for work orders.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
• Understanding of lettings procedures and void standards.

• Hourly rate of £19.50 PAYE umbrella, up to £25.78.
