Housing Officer

About the role

Join BPHA as a Housing Officer on a fixed‑term contract and help improve the lives of residents in Bedford. You will work primarily from home, visiting tenants and the Head Office as needed to deliver high‑quality tenancy and neighbourhood services.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of rent collection, arrears management and support tenants to sustain their tenancies.
• Manage anti‑social behaviour (ASB) cases sensitively, ensuring swift resolution and safeguarding awareness.
• Collaborate with Complex Case Housing Officers to provide a consistent, customer‑focused service.
• Conduct regular estate inspections, monitor estate services and complete fire safety checks.
• Work with internal teams and external partners to deliver a holistic service to residents.
• Refer and signpost tenants for additional support based on household circumstances.

Required profile

• Previous experience in housing or tenancy management, preferably in a social housing setting.
• Strong understanding of ASB legislation and best practice case handling.
• Proven ability to manage rent arrears and support financial wellbeing.
• Excellent customer‑service mindset with strong problem‑solving and negotiation abilities.
• Effective communication, time‑management and organisational skills.
