Housing Officer

About the role

The Housing Officer will join Chime Housing’s Watford team to deliver high‑quality tenancy and neighbourhood services. You will work directly with tenants, local partners and internal teams to ensure safe, well‑managed homes and supportive communities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage tenancies, assess household needs and signpost residents to appropriate support.
• Review tenant circumstances regularly and advise on future housing options.
• Oversee mixed‑tenure patches, ensuring compliance with leaseholder and shared‑owner policies.
• Represent the organisation in court and external meetings, preparing necessary documentation.
• Reduce rent and service‑charge arrears through proactive income management.
• Handle antisocial behaviour, tenancy breaches and safeguarding referrals.
• Conduct regular estate, fire‑safety and CCTV inspections, coordinating repairs promptly.
• Support void management to re‑let properties quickly and safely.
• Lead on fraud prevention audits, tenancy reviews, mutual exchanges and succession planning.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Housing Officer in a customer‑facing role.
• Strong numeracy for rent analysis and debt management.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with tenants and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Organised time‑management and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Housing Management software.
• IT competence for accurate data entry and system use.
