Housing Options Officer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to join our expanding Housing Options Team in North London. You will work with a knowledgeable group of peers to reduce the number of people in temporary accommodation and deliver statutory homelessness prevention services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality housing options advice and homeless‑prevention casework in line with the Housing Act 1996.
• Process homeless applications robustly and issue accurate Section 184 decisions.
• Use prevention tools such as the HomeFinder Scheme, discretionary hardship payments, and court representation to sustain tenancies or secure affordable accommodation.
• Deliver statutory advice and assistance to non‑priority homeless cases, including rough sleepers, under s.192 of the Housing Act 1996.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Housing Options Officer or in a similar homelessness‑prevention role.
• Familiarity with the Housing Act 1996 and related statutory processes.
• Ability to start work immediately and manage a caseload from day one.
