Housing Solicitor – Tenant & Occupier Law

About the role

Our client is seeking a Housing Solicitor to join a highly regarded practice in East London. The role involves representing tenants and occupiers across a range of housing matters, with a focus on delivering high‑quality legal services both publicly and privately funded.

Key responsibilities

• Act on behalf of tenants and occupiers in possession claims, poor housing conditions cases, homelessness matters and judicial review proceedings.
• Represent protected parties through litigation friends, including professional litigation friends such as the Official Solicitor.
• Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements for publicly funded matters.
• Manage and administer Legal Aid funding, including the use of the Client and Cost Management System (CCMS).
• Handle and manage privately funded housing matters.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with at least 1 year post‑qualification experience (PQE) in housing law.
• Experience handling both publicly and privately funded housing cases.
• Familiarity with Legal Aid regulations and compliance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CCMS (Client and Cost Management System).
