Housing Support Specialist – Outreach & Move On

About the role

Southdown is seeking a Housing Support Specialist to join its Outreach and Move On teams in Hastings. You will work directly with people who are rough sleeping, providing early‑morning street outreach and supporting them as they move into stable accommodation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct early‑morning outreach on the streets of Hastings to engage people who are rough sleeping.
• Provide move‑on and tenancy support as clients transition into accommodation.
• Deliver flexible, trauma‑informed assistance tailored to each person’s needs, including substance dependency, mental and physical health, domestic abuse and offending histories.
• Collaborate with a multi‑agency team to coordinate care and services.
• Maintain accurate records of contacts and support provided.

Required profile

• Passion for ending rough sleeping and supporting people experiencing homelessness.
• Interest in housing support, mental health recovery and wellbeing development.
• Willingness to work early‑morning shifts (5 am summer, 6 am winter) and standard office hours.
• Ability to work sensitively with individuals who have experienced trauma.
• Previous experience in support, outreach, case management or social care is welcomed but not essential.
