Housing Support Worker

About the role

Join a dedicated team in Peterborough to provide person‑centred support for vulnerable adults living in supported housing. You will help service users develop the confidence and practical skills needed for independent living while ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Assist tenants in accessing benefits, healthcare, education and employment services.
• Maintain accurate computer records and manage visitor sign‑in/out procedures.
• Teach and support independent living skills such as budgeting, cooking and tenancy management.
• Conduct regular welfare checks and provide crisis intervention when required.
• Promote safeguarding, health and safety standards at all times.
• Build positive relationships with external agencies, local authorities and community organisations.
• Support tenants to sustain accommodation and reduce the risk of homelessness.

Required profile

• Experience in support, housing or care settings.
• Empathetic, caring and professional attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality principles.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Required skills

• Proficient IT skills for record‑keeping and data entry.
