HR Advisor – 8‑month Fixed‑Term Contract in Birmingham

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join a well‑established public sector organisation in Birmingham on an eight‑month fixed‑term contract. The role will be based onsite at least three days a week and will involve leading the implementation of people policies and managing employee relations matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the embedding of people policies across the organisation, ensuring HR leads by example.
• Case‑manage employee relations issues including absence, performance, investigations and grievances, providing accurate and legally compliant advice.
• Maintain up‑to‑date records of ER cases in the case management system and produce accurate reports.
• Conduct written debriefs for all ER cases, capture learning and track recommendations to completion.
• Support and coach line managers in addressing employee matters and conflict resolution early.
• Act as escalation point for issues beyond the HR Administrator and refer complex cases to HR Specialists.
• Identify trends and insights from ER data to inform continuous improvement.

Required profile

• CIPD Level 5 qualification (essential).
• Extensive experience handling employee relations cases from start to finish.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor junior staff.
• Availability to start immediately and commit to the full contract term.
