HR Advisor

About the role

We are partnering with a fashion retail business to hire an HR Advisor for their small but busy HR team. This is an ideal first step into HR for candidates coming from store management, offering hands‑on experience across employee relations, recruitment, HR systems and generalist support.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for HR queries from stores, concessions and warehouse teams, providing clear guidance.
• Support and coach managers on disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, flexible working and performance conversations.
• Manage HR administration throughout the employee lifecycle – contracts, changes, probation reviews, maternity paperwork, references, onboarding and leavers.
• Maintain accurate records in the HRIS and assist with contract changes, recruitment requests and system updates.
• Assist with recruitment activities, including job posting, agency liaison and creative sourcing.
• Provide note‑taking support in formal meetings and travel to sites when required.
• Support payroll administration once trained and resolve HR/system queries.
• Monitor employment law updates and translate changes into practical guidance for the business.

Required profile

• Background as Store Manager, Assistant Manager or Department Manager with experience handling disciplinaries and grievances.
• Confident, personable and resilient, enjoying a hands‑on operational environment.
• Resourceful and proactive, able to find answers and translate them into clear guidance.
• Motivated to build a long‑term HR career within a retail setting.

Required skills

• Experience using an HRIS for record keeping and administration.
• Knowledge of employee‑relations processes and recruitment best practices.
• Familiarity with contract administration, onboarding and leaver procedures.
• Basic understanding of payroll support and employment law updates.
