HR Advisor – People Advisor (12‑month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established, values‑led organisation to hire an experienced HR Advisor on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will join a collaborative people team, providing proactive HR advice and supporting managers and employees across a diverse business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and performance cases.
• Provide expert advice to managers on HR policies, procedures and UK employment law.
• Lead attendance management, supporting short‑ and long‑term absence cases and return‑to‑work processes.
• Support performance improvement plans and development initiatives using HR systems and people data.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and act as a trusted advisor across multiple functions.
• Assist with recruitment, retention, talent development and apprenticeship programmes.
• Contribute to wider People Strategy objectives, organisational change and transformation projects.
• Identify training needs and support learning and development initiatives.
• Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
• Collaborate with recognised trade unions to sustain effective employee relations.

Required profile

• CIPD Level 5 qualification (or working towards) or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience in a People Advisor, HR Advisor or similar generalist HR role.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Proven ability to manage employee relations cases and advise managers on complex people issues.
• Experience supporting absence management and performance improvement processes.
