HR Advisor – Retail (Head Office)

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established retail business to hire an HR Advisor for their close‑knit People team. This role offers a unique chance for experienced retail managers or HR generalists to step into a head‑office HR position and work across the full employee lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line HR advice and support to managers in retail, warehouse and head office.
• Handle employee‑relations cases including absence, disciplinary, grievance, performance and flexible‑working matters.
• Manage onboarding, probation reviews, employee changes and routine HR administration.
• Support recruitment from advertising roles to interviewing and onboarding across retail, warehouse and head office.
• Maintain HR and payroll systems, ensuring employee records are accurate and up‑to‑date.
• Produce HR reports and analyse people data to identify trends and inform business decisions.
• Assist with HR projects, policy updates and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with managers and act as a trusted HR partner.

Required profile

• Experience in retail management or a generalist HR role.
• Exposure to employee‑relations and coaching managers.
• CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 (or working towards it) – advantageous but not mandatory.
• Commercial, pragmatic approach to people challenges.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Strong organisational skills with the capacity to manage a varied workload.
• Proactive mindset and genuine passion for people.
