HR Advisor (Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join our busy HR team on a temporary basis for 2‑3 months. The role is hybrid, requiring 1‑2 days per week in our Letchworth Garden City office, and can be taken as part‑time or full‑time.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional HR advice on policies, procedures and employment legislation.
• Support managers with employee relations matters such as misconduct, capability, performance and absence.
• Advise throughout the recruitment process, including job profiling, advertising and selection.
• Build relationships with managers, offering proactive support on workforce planning, recruitment and learning & development.
• Attend management meetings and contribute HR expertise to projects and initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with employee representatives and trade unions where appropriate.
• Manage short and long‑term absence, including Occupational Health referrals.
• Coach and develop managers to ensure consistent application of HR policies.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a generalist HR Advisor.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience advising on employee relations, misconduct, capability, performance and absence.
• Experience supporting recruitment and selection activities.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to manage a varied workload independently.
• Availability to start at short notice.
