HR and Payroll Officer

About the role

Reed HR is supporting a growing education organisation and is looking for an experienced HR and Payroll Officer to join a collaborative central team. The role involves delivering accurate, compliant HR and payroll services across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment administration, including onboarding and pre‑employment checks
• Support the preparation of contracts, variations, and employee records
• Liaise with external payroll and pension providers
• Prepare and check monthly payroll data, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Assist with pension administration and respond to related queries
• Act as the first point of contact for HR and payroll queries, delivering a high‑quality service
• Provide administrative support across employee‑relations processes (e.g., absence, disciplinary, grievance)
• Maintain HR systems, workforce data, and compliance records
• Produce reports and workforce insights to support decision‑making
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support workforce and operational needs

Required profile

• CIPD Level 3 qualification
• Essential experience in the education sector
• Strong communication skills
• Payroll experience, preferably with pensions
• Experience with EPM is a plus
