HR Assistant – £28k‑£35k + Benefits (Construction & Property)

About the role

Join a well‑established, award‑winning construction and property company as an HR Assistant. You will support the Head of HR and the wider HR team with day‑to‑day administration, recruitment, and employee lifecycle tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out pre‑employment checks, including DBS verification.
• Prepare induction packs and conduct new‑starter inductions.
• Maintain attendance records, holiday logs and liaise with payroll.
• Update personnel files and generate HR KPI reports.
• Process leavers, conduct exit interviews and take meeting minutes.
• Support probation reviews, maternity/paternity processes and policy advice.
• Assist with recruitment activities when the internal recruiter is unavailable.
• Manage driving licence checks for employees with company vehicles and support TUPE data collection.

Required profile

• Part‑CIPD qualified or working towards qualification.
• Previous experience in an HR admin or assistant role.
• Confidential, approachable and able to ensure compliance.
• Excellent written and spoken communication with strong organisational abilities.
• Comfortable with an office‑based role, occasional remote work after probation.
• Reliable team player willing to support the HR function as needed.

• Office‑based role in Hertfordshire/Potters Bar, Monday‑Friday 9:00‑17:30.
