HR Business Partner – Temporary (Maternity Cover)

About the role

Transport for London is looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to provide maternity‑leave cover for a complex, highly regulated and unionised business area. Working alongside the Senior HR Business Partner, you will deliver people‑focused solutions, support employee‑relations activity and help drive organisational change.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior leaders to align people plans with business objectives.
• Provide expert advice on performance management, employee relations and HR decision‑making.
• Coach and challenge managers to improve organisational effectiveness.
• Support consultation, negotiation and employee‑relations processes, including trade‑union engagement.
• Lead organisational change initiatives, restructures and transformation programmes.
• Interpret and apply HR policies, frameworks and reward structures consistently.
• Analyse workforce data to identify risks and recommend interventions.
• Collaborate with HR Centres of Excellence and wider People teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Required profile

• Significant experience as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor.
• Background in complex, regulated and/or highly unionised environments.
• Strong employee‑relations expertise, including consultation and negotiation.
• Proven track record of supporting organisational change or restructures.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and influence senior stakeholders.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term contract (initially 3 months) with the possibility of extension.
• Daily rate between £300 and £475.73, payable via PAYE or Umbrella.
