HR Manager – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract (Hybrid)

About the role

The top City law firm is looking for a CIPD‑qualified HR Manager with law‑firm experience to lead HR activities in its London office. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term role, offering a hybrid working pattern of three days on‑site and two days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Act as an escalation point and provide day‑to‑day guidance to HR Advisors, Recruitment Coordinator and HR Administrator.
• Advise on employee‑relations matters, supporting the Head of HR with complex cases and coaching advisors.
• Manage the full employee lifecycle for the client group, including absences, extended leave, probation and leavers.
• Collaborate with the Training Principal to deliver the firm’s Training Contract and oversee trainee solicitor seat rotation and qualification processes.
• Organise and run the Summer Vacation Scheme and support trainees through the PSC course and SQE2.
• Handle practising certificate renewals for the firm (SRA, CILEx, etc.).

Required profile

• Proven HR Manager experience within a law firm, preferably handling trainees and vacation schemes.
• CIPD Level 7 qualification (or progressing towards it).
• Strong knowledge of HR best practice and strategic HR planning.

Required skills

• Experience developing and delivering assessment centres.
