HR Manager – Head of Human Resources

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on Head of Human Resources to lead the HR function at our Chichester office. Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, you will combine strategic people leadership with day‑to‑day operational support, ensuring a professional, efficient and compliant HR service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the HR team to deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused service.
• Partner with senior leaders on workforce planning, performance management and organisational objectives.
• Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation, safeguarding and safer recruitment practices.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, benefits administration and HR data management.
• Design and deliver learning, development and induction programmes.
• Manage departmental budgets and produce HR metrics and reports.
• Lead HR projects and change initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
• Promote an inclusive, high‑performing workplace culture.

Required profile

• Graduate calibre with CIPD Chartered Membership.
• Proven senior HR management experience in a complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience leading and developing HR teams and managing budgets.
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational abilities.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and safer recruitment.

Required skills

• Expertise in HR information systems.
• Advanced Excel for reporting and analysis.
