HR Manager – Industrial/Manufacturing Site

About the role

This full‑time HR Manager position is based in Trafford Park, Manchester, supporting a medium‑size industrial/manufacturing business with roughly 300 employees. Reporting to the Head of HR, you will lead all HR activities on‑site, from employee relations to recruitment and wellbeing initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage employee‑relations casework for the Manchester site and coordinate with the Doncaster location.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the trade union.
• Coach and up‑skill managers and leaders on HR best practices.
• Drive employee engagement and wellbeing programmes.
• Provide monthly KPI reports on absenteeism, turnover and communications for executive and board meetings.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, induction and drug/alcohol screening processes.
• Partner with Health & Safety and Occupational Health to implement risk‑reduction actions.
• Handle absence management, arrange welfare meetings and liaise with Occupational Health to reduce short‑ and long‑term sickness.

Required profile

• Proven HR experience within the industrial or manufacturing sector.
• Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment law and compliance.
• Experience managing union relationships.
• Excellent organisational ability and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Track record in recruitment, employee relations and training programmes.
