HR Manager – Multi-site Care Provider

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is based in Taunton and supports a multi‑site care provider operating across Somerset and Devon. You will lead the HR function for several specialist nursing homes, partnering with senior leadership to drive people strategy and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead HR across multiple nursing homes, providing strategic and operational support.
• Advise managers on employee‑relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence issues.
• Conduct workplace investigations and facilitate conflict resolution.
• Develop, maintain and update HR policies, procedures and employment documentation.
• Run recruitment campaigns, oversee onboarding and support retention initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Training Manager to manage inductions, probation and mandatory training compliance.
• Produce HR reports and analyse metrics such as absence, turnover and recruitment activity.
• Support wellbeing programmes, occupational health referrals and return‑to‑work plans.
• Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation, safer recruitment, DBS requirements and CQC standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an HR Manager or Senior HR Generalist within the care sector.
• Strong background in employee‑relations, disciplinary, grievance and capability processes.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience supporting managers across multiple sites and familiarity with safer recruitment, DBS and CQC compliance.
• Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• CIPD Level 5 (or above) desirable.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
