HR Manager – Operational & Advisory Role

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to join our consultancy’s London office. The role combines operational oversight with advisory support, ensuring employees receive clear, practical guidance across wellbeing, benefits, employee relations and core HR processes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full employee lifecycle – recruitment, contracts, onboarding, right‑to‑work checks, starters, leavers, absence and family leave.
• Provide expert advice on employee relations, performance issues, disciplinary and grievance matters, ensuring fair and robust processes.
• Maintain and communicate HR policies and procedures, seeking external advice for complex cases when needed.
• Manage two direct reports, supporting their development and day‑to‑day activities.
• Accountable for payroll processing and administration.
• Support annual performance reviews, salary and bonus decisions.
• Administer benefits programmes, reviewing them against employee feedback.
• Drive employee engagement initiatives, analyse survey data and develop action plans.
• Use HR data to identify trends in turnover, absence and other metrics, providing recommendations.
• Lead and contribute to HR process improvement and project work.

Required profile

• CIPD qualification and a university degree.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across the organisation.
• Calm, thoughtful, diplomatic and discreet, able to resolve conflicts quickly.
• Highly organised, capable of juggling competing priorities.
• Solution‑oriented, inclusive and culturally aware.
• Proven generalist HR experience, preferably within professional services.
• Experience using HR data to inform decision‑making.

What we offer

• Competitive salary of £75,000‑£85,000 per year.
