HR Manager - Strategic Business Partnering

About the role
Join a collaborative HR function as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across legal and business services. You will combine strategic business partnering with hands‑on HR delivery to shape people strategy, boost manager capability, and nurture a high‑performing, engaged workforce.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with senior leaders to deliver commercially focused HR solutions aligned to business objectives.
- Provide expert guidance on complex employee‑relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, investigations and performance management.
- Coach and develop managers to strengthen leadership capability and confidence in people management.
- Build strong relationships across legal and business services teams, acting as a trusted HR advisor.
- Use people data and workforce insights to support strategic decision‑making and identify trends.
- Support employee engagement and retention initiatives to enhance the overall employee experience.
- Coordinate leadership development and management training programmes.
- Ensure HR policies and practices remain compliant with employment legislation and best practice.
- Contribute to wider HR projects and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Proven experience as an HR Manager, Senior HR Advisor or Senior HR Business Partner within a law firm or professional‑services organisation.
- Significant experience managing complex employee‑relations cases from investigation through to resolution.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience coaching and influencing managers and senior stakeholders.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.
- A commercial mindset with the ability to balance business needs with pragmatic HR advice.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using HR data to support decision‑making.
- Excellent communication, judgement and organisational skills.
- Experience supporting partnership structures or international professional‑services organisations is advantageous.
Required skills
What we offer
- Competitive salary £85,000‑£95,000 per year.
