HR Officer

About the role

The HR Officer will act as a trusted business partner within Avara Foods' Dudley manufacturing site. Working closely with first‑line managers and the wider HR team, you will ensure that all people‑related processes are delivered professionally, legally compliant and aligned with company policy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide HR advice on disciplinary, grievance and capability matters, ensuring compliance with current employment law.
• Support managers during hearings and investigations, taking notes and confirming outcomes.
• Apply company policies consistently and fairly while meeting business needs.
• Manage attendance and absence cases, liaise with Occupational Health and help managers meet KPI targets for reduced absenteeism.
• Collaborate with department heads on headcount planning, recruitment and workforce forecasting.
• Assist in designing and delivering learning and development initiatives to build employee and managerial capabilities.
• Operate primarily in an office environment but attend the factory floor when required.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practices.
• Ability to build effective partnerships with first‑line managers and provide timely, professional advice.
• Flexibility to work standard office hours (08:30‑17:00) and cover occasional twilight shifts.
• Willingness to work both in an office setting and on the factory floor as needed.
