HR & Payroll Assistant – Salford

About the role

Our client is a well‑established manufacturing organisation based in Salford, seeking an experienced HR & Payroll Assistant to support the full employee lifecycle in a fast‑paced, onsite environment. You will work closely with operational teams and management, ensuring accurate payroll processing and seamless HR administration.

Key responsibilities

• Support the entire employee lifecycle – onboarding, contracts, changes, absence management and off‑boarding.
• Administer payroll, process data accurately and meet submission deadlines.
• Manage payroll changes such as overtime, shift allowances, sickness, holidays and employee amendments via ADP.
• Liaise with payroll providers and internal stakeholders to resolve queries.
• Maintain employee records and ensure HR system accuracy.
• Coordinate recruitment activities and assist with onboarding.
• Act as the first point of contact for HR and payroll‑related queries.
• Support HR compliance, reporting and audit requirements.
• Assist with employee‑relations administration and HR documentation.

Required profile

• Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Experience using ADP as a payroll system.
• Strong understanding of HR administration across the employee lifecycle.
• Exposure to payroll coordination or support activities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Confidence working in a fast‑paced operational setting.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Professional handling of confidential information.
• CIPD Level 5 qualification or working towards it.
