HSE Assistant

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic HSE Assistant to support the health, safety and environmental objectives of our Liverpool site. Working closely with the HSE Manager, you will help create a safe and compliant workplace while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out regular workplace inspections, identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Support the review and maintenance of site risk assessments and safety procedures.
• Assist with audits of operational activities, including permit‑to‑work and lockout/tagout processes.
• Complete and review COSHH assessments to meet regulatory requirements.
• Deliver HSE inductions for new employees, contractors and visitors.
• Maintain HSE communication boards and keep records up to date.
• Collect, monitor and analyse safety performance data to spot trends and drive improvement.
• Support investigations and problem‑solving activities to reduce risk.

Required profile

• NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health & Safety (or actively working towards it).
• Previous experience in a manufacturing, production or warehouse setting.
• Good understanding of current health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively at all levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
