HSE Manager

About the role

The HSE Manager will lead and continuously improve the health, safety and environmental management systems for a specialist manufacturing business in Wallsend. Acting as the site’s technical expert, the role provides strategic and operational HSE leadership to ensure legal compliance and embed a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with UK health, safety and environmental legislation, including COSHH and DSEAR.
• Identify, assess and mitigate site‑wide EHS risks, especially those linked to flame‑fusion processes and hazardous materials.
• Develop, implement and maintain effective EHS management systems and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage the site Occupational Health programme in partnership with external providers.
• Lead investigations of accidents, incidents and near‑misses using structured root‑cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programmes, inductions and toolbox talks.
• Support managers and team leaders in fulfilling their EHS responsibilities and promote engagement across all departments.

Required profile

• Significant experience as an HSE Manager or similar role within an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to advise senior leadership on safety, compliance and operational performance.
• Strong understanding of UK health, safety and environmental regulations.
