Humanities Teacher – Secondary School (KS3/KS4)

About the role
We are seeking a passionate Humanities Teacher to join a good‑rated secondary school in Colchester. You will deliver engaging lessons in History, Geography and Religious Studies to students in Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering curiosity and critical thinking.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver differentiated Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Assess, monitor and record student progress, providing targeted support.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all learners can thrive.
- Collaborate with the Humanities department and wider school staff on curriculum development.
- Contribute to enrichment activities, whole‑school initiatives and departmental projects.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A degree in History, Geography, Religious Studies or a related Humanities subject.
- Experience teaching Humanities at secondary level across KS3 and KS4.
- Strong classroom management and organisational abilities.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

- Student assessment and data tracking.
- Collaborative teamwork and communication.
- Ability to inspire and motivate young learners.
