HV Engineer – DNO/Substation Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HV Engineer to join a market-leading IPC company in Luton, focusing on DNO and substation environments. The role involves hands-on overhaul, repair and maintenance of high-voltage equipment across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Perform remedial work on high-voltage systems, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and cables.
• Carry out cable installation, terminations, earthing and bonding tasks.
• Support testing, commissioning and re-commissioning activities.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Ensure efficient operation and compliance of all high-voltage electrical equipment.

Required profile

• Background as an HV Engineer or similar role.
• Experience working in power stations, DNO, substation or solar environments.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Willingness to work night shifts, on-call and stay-away assignments.

Required skills

• High-voltage equipment handling (transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers).
• Cable installation and terminations.
• Earthing and bonding.
• Testing and re-commissioning of HV systems.
