IBA Technician

About the role

HFG is representing an established independent insurance broker seeking an experienced IBA Technician to own the day‑to‑day IBA function. The role is hands‑on, autonomous and involves managing insurance broking accounts from end‑to‑end while acting as the main point of contact for IBA matters. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business and will have genuine ownership of the function, with support during the initial handover period.

Key responsibilities

• Managing client and insurer cash allocation
• Completing insurer statement reconciliations and settlements
• Performing bank and client money account reconciliations
• Managing credit control and monitoring outstanding premiums
• Processing refunds and return premiums
• Completing commission and brokerage reconciliations
• Producing client money calculations
• Supporting month‑end processes and reconciliations
• Investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies
• Liaising with insurers, clients, brokers and senior stakeholders to resolve queries
• Producing reports and escalating overdue items
• Helping maintain and improve IBA processes and controls

Required profile

• Previous experience within IBA, insurance broking accounts or insurance finance
• Strong experience in reconciliations, insurer settlements, premium processing and client money
• Confidence to independently manage day‑to‑day IBA responsibilities
• Good understanding of insurance broking and commercial insurance
• Knowledge of FCA client‑money requirements
• Strong numerical, reconciliation and Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail and stakeholder management
• Proactive approach to resolving queries and improving processes
• Experience with Acturis is advantageous
